Your True Character Voice

Some "character" voices actually come from somewhere inside you and don't require you to change your voice at all. If there is a mothering side to you, or you already are a mother, then you probably have a "Mom Voice". You may have a dry, droning, monotone voice you use when you are tired or bored with life at the moment. Used with the right copy, this voice could be funny. Maybe you use a funny voice when you talk to the dog, or when you are talking to yourself while driving.

A good idea might be for you to carry a notebook or recording device with you and make note of the voices that come out of you naturally. Sometimes the voices that sound like real, true characters are really just voice artists being themselves, and having a conversation as they normally would as a husband, wife, Mom or Dad.
